At this joint Yokosuka Council on Asia-Pacific Studies-JUMP event, Professor Nancy Snow discussed Japan’s effort to promote a national brand identify and shared her thoughts regarding some of the challenges and opportunities for Japan to raise its visibility in the world through cultural relations, exchange, and influence management.
Dr. Snow has a 20+ year history in nation brand management and public diplomacy, first at the United States Information Agency and U.S. Department of State and later within the academy. She was instrumental in establishing the leading graduate programs in public diplomacy at the University of Southern California and Syracuse University. Her latest book, Japan’s Information War, is Snow’s first book on nation brand Japan. It’s written in a style of opinion and personal journey, not a typical academic text. Snow is also author/editor of ten other books, including the Routledge Handbook of Public Diplomacy and Propaganda, Inc.
